Johnnys' Beanery derives its name from the late 1800's British "Beaneries," largely pubs and taverns in nature. We pride ourselves on our neighborhood atmosphere and live by our slogan, "where great food and good friends come together." Our team of staff goes the extra mile to make each guest welcome.

Johnnys' Beanery began on Christmas Eve in 1993 upon the purchase of "The Establishment" from Karen Miller by John Lane and a friend. John Lane's sister designed new stained glass signs and windows while her fiancée and his father built the outdoor neon sign. The grand opening was held February 11 with several activities including A.J. Cancelada's one-man band and happy hour drinks all weekend. In August of 1994 we began to proudly serve Vienna Beef Chicago dogs and opened our banquet room and patio. In January of 1995 we began an annual anniversary celebration the first full weekend of the university semester. In February of 1996 we began operating the baseball concessions at MU's Simmons Field. In January of 1997 we expanded our menu to include St. Louis style pizza and homemade pastas. During March of 2001 we opened the Black & Gold Room our smoke free dining room. Additionally in 2001 we published our catering menu and have expanded our services outside of the restaurant.

During our short history we have hosted a number of musical acts for the enjoyment of our guests including Amen Corner, Shooty Babet, Colony, Timmy Likes To Fish, Jesse & Chris-An Acoustic Duet, Chris Bennett Band, Clay Cumbie and our talented local folks weekly singing Karaoke under the leadership of "The Fat White Boy." We look forward to seeing our many friends and neighbors as we continue to enjoy entertaining our guests.
